Meeting Minutes 12/13/16

Please find following the notes from the West End Business Association’s monthly meeting.

Present: Jonathan Blakeslee, White Heron Tea, Monique Shevlin, Signature Escrow and Title, Jesse Ware, Futuro Construction, Jeanne Russell, Portsmouth Center for Yoga and the Arts/Music Together, Sara Curry, Bikram Yoga, Anne Crotty, Anne Crotty Law, Jesse Ware, Futuro Construction, Ed Hayes, Ricci Lumber, Bill Buckley, Gateway Tai Chi and Qigong, Vince Lombardi, Resident and owner Data Archive, Mallory Parkington, Mallory Parkington Photography, Dan Umbro, Fishnet Media

SNAPCHAT: Fishnet Media is working on a West End filter for Snapchat and should have one prepared by the next meeting. Mallory Parkington has used one in the past for an event with great success. Once created, the #WE filter lasts forever. One more way to create branding for the West End and access a younger audience and targeted marketing.

SIGNATURE TITLE PROMO: Signature Title’s cross-marketing promo on Facebook with STREET, White Heron, Mission, and Bikram Yoga increased their page likes by 50%. Let’s look at more ways we can work together as a rising tide floats all boats.

PLAID FRIDAY: We saw a lot of plaid in the West End for Plaid Friday. How were your sales?

ZAGSTER: Juliet Walker is working on bringing this shared-bike system to the City. They are looking for locations to have bikes available in the West End. If you’re interested in hosting a bike station at your location, contact the Planning Department.

BRANDING THE WEST END: We’re getting ready to revamp our West End logo to highlight the unique qualities of this neighborhood. Fishnet did a really nice job of creating a visual “brand” for the Westival and as a collaborative, we could do more work replicating that in our neighborhood branding. There are lots of creative people in our group. If you have ideas, bring them!

Vince Lombardi of Data Archive has several West End URLs reserved if anyone is interested and needs one.

Much of the Islington Corridor is part of the Historic District. It is an area that is ripe for development, especially as you head West in our neighborhood. Staying connected and up to date on movement in this direction will help us to preserve the character of the West End neighborhood in the face of development and change.
