Meeting Minutes 8/9/16

Jonathan opened they meeting with introductions.  Newcomers included Liam Hardy of Vagabond Coffee, Jenny Harrison of Face, Body, Spirit and Bill Buckley of Gateway. 

Discussion about fundraising options for Devon from Elemental Massage and her recent accident which resulted in a metal plate and ten screws being implanted into her wrist.  The West End Portsmouth FB page features a link to  a GoFundMe page for donations toward her medical and recovery expenses.  Ideas about promoting this GoFundMe link into Westival were also discussed along with other creative ideas such as perhaps a dunk tank.  

Karina Quintans, spokesperson for Islington Creek Neighborhood Association- discussed the issues surrounding McIntyre Federal Building and the various options to repurpose the lot and the building.   A petition to be presented to the City Council to vote against relocating the federal building to the Bridge Street lot was circulated.  The city will be meeting on Monday, August 15th to discuss this issue.  All were encouraged to either attend the meeting or send a note in to the city.   If you do attend the meeting or write in about this issue, please mention WEBA's collaboration with Islington Creek Neighborhood Association.   Please see information attached.  

Westival is happening!!  September 13th 5-8 PM.  Dan Umbro from Fishnet Media presented the flyers and posters for the event and it goes to press today once he is done tweaking the sponsorship list.  He's also working with the city to ensure proper permits (if necessary).   Parking is being made available at 501 Islington Street lot for the event by property owner Todd Baker.  If we need the lot for more than just parking, Monique will have to coordinate that with him once we finalize a plan.  Crossing detail to be engaged. Music and food approved by the city.  Logistics still need to be worked out with regard to where to place musicians, food, tables etc...  

Whitney Blatsos of Red Post Realty is coordinating police details for the event. 

Potential back up plan for inclement weather -  None.  Event to go on rain or shine!
