CROSSWALK UPDATE: Two business owners from the West End spoke at the last council meeting against the crosswalk and three representatives for the project. The traffic and safety board voted to test the crosswalk again this summer for another three months.
NEW #WE LOGO AND SNAPCHAT FILTER: Fishnet has been working on a Snapchat filter for the #WestEnd with geotagging and a logo that represents the identity of the West End.
The theme of the new logo works to tip our hats to the work done to brand the West End over the years and make the new logo a little less casual: appealing to both residents and the thriving arts culture, and the thriving business community on the West Side. We will continue to carry forward our theme of Live. Work. Play.
We are excited to host a launch party for the new West End logo in the coming months.
WEST END WEBSITE: A participant made a suggestion that we post the meeting minutes on the website. That would be a nice way to keep people updated who can’t make the meetings.
TELEPHONE POLES: The City Council is voting on whether or not to bury the telephone poles on Islington Street on March 6th and welcomes public input. This project comes with a tremendous cost so thoughtful study of project is prudent. We would like to send a cohort to the City Council meeting to speak on behalf of the West End. Feel free to contact Ward 2 Councilperson Rebecca Perkins and share your ideas and concerns.
ACCESSORY DWELLING UNITS AND YOU: PS21 is hosting a meeting on accessory dwelling units in Portsmouth at the Public Library on February 22nd at 7 pm. Please join them for more information on how ADUs can affect the housing crisis in our area and what effect they have on your.
